Shakespeare has created a many of master pieces and king Lear is one of them. The story has based itself on honesty one main thing. This play is about three daughters big medium and small, and which daughter should get the largest piece of land for who loves king Lear most. In this they can say anything to make king Lear think I repeat think what they say about their love. now I am going to talk about the one person that lies her way into trying to get what she wants.

GONARIL

Gonaril is one of the characters .that Shakespeare expresses her love as false and manipulative. I agree with his reason because she doesn’t really like him but must of wanted the land because she uses her words as weapons to lure him to thinking that she loves him but befor he knows it shell have the land and kick him out of everything  because she does not love him she is just using him but it is a type of thing someone would do to get what she wants. This is what she says.

“Sir, I love you more than words can wield the matter;
Dearer than eye-sight, space, and liberty;
Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare;
No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honour;
As much as child e’er loved, or father found;
A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable;
Beyond all manner”

This is what really captures my eye in the gonaril paragraph when she quotes “i love you more than words can wield the matter” this like what i said befor she is using her words as weapons to lure him deep and deeper into the darkness of believing her.

REAGAN

Enters reagan who Shakespeare presents her as false but instead of manipulative about herself explains how the others alert doing it accuaratly

sir, I am made
Of the self-same metal that my sister is,
And prize me at her worth. In my true heart
I find she names my very deed of love;
Only she comes too short: that I profess
Myself an enemy to all other joys,
Which the most precious square of sense possesses;
And find I am alone felicitate
In your dear highness’ love.

Showing that she doest really mind and she is made of the same of her sister and she love him with all her heart and also quotes “ony she come to short” reagan is exaggerating and it changes king lears mind.

Shakespear introuduces  cordelia as true  honest but really respond in convincieng way.

Good my lord,
You have begot me, bred me, loved me: I
Return those duties back as are right fit,
Obey you, love you, and most honour you.
Why have my sisters husbands, if they say
They love you all? Haply, when I shall wed,
That lord whose hand must take my plight shall carry
Half my love with him, half my care and duty:
Sure, I shall never marry like my sisters,
To love my father all.

She quotes all of this and also says”nothing my lord” she has nothing to say which makes king lear supprised.

shakespear presents lear as  powerful.

he quotes this
